Seville presently has theatres and cultural centers that have permitted the Andalusian capital to enter in the circuit of international theatre, opera and orchestra companies.
Teatro Lope de VegaThe Teatro Lope de Vega was built for the 1929 Latin American Exposition.
Teatro CentralThe Teatro Central and the Teatro de la Maestranza were also inherited from a World Fair, in this case Expo '92. The first one is located on the Cartuja Island, offering vanguard theatrical and musical performances. Programming includes influences such as classical and temporary theatre, jazz, rock and flamenco with its Flamenco Viene del Sur series.
Teatro de la MaestranzaThe Teatro de la Maestranza offers performances which vary from dance, opera, zarzuela (light opera) and classical concerts with performances from the Royal Symphonic Orchestra of Seville.
Sala Cero TeatroSmall proposals: exhibitions, lectures, mini-performances, etc. Comic sessions: Fri. & Sat. at 11pm.
Sala La FundiciónSeville Stage Association of Friends of the Theatre and Scenic Arts.
Sala La ImperdibleTheatre, dance and music from October to May.
Stage SchoolsIf you are interested in dance you definitely should try and see presentations of the Centro Andaluz de Teatro (Andalusian Theatre Center) and the Compañía Andaluza de Danza (Andalusian Dance Company). Both of them are great companies and worth seeing!
